Touch ID May Return to Apple Watch

Leaked Apple software code suggests Touch ID could be integrated into the side button of the Series 12 and Ultra 4. This would allow users to unlock their watch via fingerprint instead of a passcode. However, “credible sources such as Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have yet to confirm the feature,” according to an industry insider who spoke on condition of anonymity. “There’s no guarantee Apple will move forward — even though the code exists, plans can change,” the source added.

New Chip After One-Year Hiatus

After the Series 11 and Ultra 3 reused the S10 chip, leaked code indicates the Series 12 and Ultra 4 will get a new processor, likely branded S11 or S12. “Performance improvements are expected either way,” noted a hardware analyst close to Apple’s supply chain. The refresh marks a return to annual silicon upgrades for the flagship models.

watchOS 27 Brings New Modular Watch Face

watchOS 27 will reportedly include a Modular Ultra watch face variant, previously exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. This face will offer customizable complications for all compatible models. Apple has promised “AI advancements” at WWDC 2026, which likely extend to the watch OS.

New Satellite Features on WatchOS 27
